Register for kindergarten HomeAbout Our DistrictSchoolsRegister for kindergarten Eligibility A child begins kindergarten in September of the calendar year in which they turn five years old. Children who will not reach the age of five on or before December 31 of the school year are not eligible for admission to kindergarten that school year. If your child turns five between September 1 and December 31 of that school year, you may defer their entry into Kindergarten until the following year. Registration opens in October, the year before entry. A number of pre-kindergarten events are planned for families and their child the year before kindergarten. These events are designed to ensure children have a positive transition from home to school. Register in October to ensure you are made aware of these Transition to Kindergarten activities.
