Provincial Lunch Program

All schools in New Brunswick are part of the Provincial Lunch Program. It is a government program offering reduced-cost meals to all students in New Brunswick, every school day. Meals are ordered in advance through an online ordering system, allowing families to participate only on the days they choose. Students bring a packed lunch from home on days when a meal has not been ordered.

FAQ

Government and community funding pays for a portion of each meal. The cost to families is

  • $4 per meal for students in Kindergarten – Grade 8
  • $5 per meal for students in Grade 9–12
  • Families who are unable to afford the cost will receive a full subsidy

For information about recieving the subsidy, please reach out to your school. All requests will be handled confidentially.

The meal option will change daily, and will include a side and a choice of milk or water. A vegetarian option will also be offered. Families can view the daily menu in advance.

Unfortunately, families may not request substitutions or modifications to the meal. Ingredient information will be available on the menu for those with allergy concerns.

Families of students with serious food allergies will be able to obtain additional information from their school’s food provider.

All meals will comply with Policy 711: Healthier School Food Environment

Food providers will vary between schools depending on local options and what facilities are available in a school. Food may be prepared in the school or delivered from a local facility. Each food provider will reflect local needs while maintaining consistent quality and safety standards.

Meals must be ordered in advance and families can order meals up to two weeks in advance.

Depending on your school, you will use either Chartwell Eats or Hot Lunches to order meals. To find which platform your school uses, select your school from the drop-down menu below.
